Worldwide Health Options

Exclusions

All international health insurance policies offered by Worldwide Health Options will usually contain certain exclusions on the coverage. These exclusions will change between insurance companies, and even between insurance plans. When you are obtaining a global health insurance policy it is important that you are sure of the extent of the coverage offered by your plan.

The most common exclusions on an expatriate health insurance policy will normally be with regards to pre-existing conditions. These are conditions for which the policyholder has received treatment or recognized the condition prior to purchasing an international health insurance plan. While a pre-existing condition exclusion is fairly common among health insurance policies, some other typical exclusions may include:

  • Experimental or Unproven treatments.
  • Medical treatments preformed by a policyholder’s family member.
  • HIV/Aids related illnesses.
  • Plastic and cosmetic surgeries.
  • Conditions derived from drug and alcohol abuse.
  • Fertility treatment.
  • Treatment of psychological conditions.
  • Contraception, including sterilization.
  • Termination of pregnancy, unless medically necessary.
  • Obesity treatments, such as gastric bypass, unless medically necessary.
  • Sexual dysfunction treatments.
  • Declared epidemics under government direction.
  • Injuries inflicted whilst committing a terrorist act.

Please note that in some cases it may be possible to obtain a policy which will cover one of the general exclusions mentioned above.
